Rock is the simplest style of music to play on the drums and its patterns transfer well into many other styles of music. Our first step is to get used to playing the two hands together. Once we have mastered that, we can move on to placing the bass drum in different places to create different rhythms.
Before you start, first practice playing the hi hat and snare drum on their own like this:
If you are right handed, the right hand plays the hi-hat and the left hand plays the snare drum. If you are left-handed, they are the other way around.
Once you can play the hands on their own, you are ready to start the course and add the bass drum.
